My Heisman Favorites After Week 2
After 2.5 weeks of college football, we have a couple of clear and serious Heisman Contenders. Here are my top 5 as of right now
5. Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
There’s no doubt that Travis Hunter is the most dynamic player in the sport. He averages around 140 snaps a game in his career and is a playmaker on both sides of the ball. In 2 games he has 17 catches for 242 yards and 3 TDs. Not only is he doing this on offense, but he’s been an effective CB so far this season as well. When you have a player who is this dynamic, he’s going to be in the Heisman race.
4. Jaxon Dart, Ole Miss, QB
Dart has been dominating (very low-caliber teams) so far this year in CFB. Obviously, the Rebels have not had a tough opponent thus far, but even so, Dart looks even more improved than his previous season. In two games he’s thrown just shy of 800 yards with 6 TDs and 0 INTs. He is a baller, and we all know that Kiffin’s offense is always going to be high-octane. Expect Dart's name to be in the race as the season goes on
3. Kyle McCord, QB, Syracuse
Holy smokes did Kyle McCord need a change of scenery. Sure he’s not playing vs Big 10 defenses anymore but he certainly has been impressive in his two games at Cuse. So far, including in-game vs #23 Georiga Tech, McCord has thrown for 735 yards and FBS best 8 TDs. Give this man his flowers, and if he can keep up his offensive prowess we might see him in New York.
2. Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas
Quinn Ewers is looking like the QB we’ve waited two years for him to become. He just went into the Big House, and dominated a top 5 defense in the nation, putting up 30+ points on the Wolverines. He looks poised, accurate, and most importantly confident. In his two starts, he has 506 yards and 6 TDs. His stats aren’t as eye-popping as some other QBs on this list, but he’s also one of the few players that has played in a top 10 matchup this season. If Ewers keeps playing like this, he might take that trophy home.
1. Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
I don’t think I’ve had this much fun watching a college RB ever. Jeanty has been unbelievably dominant so far this season. In two games (one vs at the time #7 Oregon), Jeanty has run for 459 yards and 9 TDs. IN 2 GAMES!!! Are you kidding me??? If I played on freshman mode in EA College Football 25 with Quinshon Judkins (pre spin move patch), I’m not sure I could put up that stat line. My favorite player in the country right now and in my humble opinion the Heisman favorite after two weeks.
