America Is So Back: Army and Navy’s Historic Season

With Liberty’s loss yesterday, only two undefeated Group of Five teams are left: Army and Navy. These two teams haven’t been ranked at the same time since 1960. I’ll say that again since 1960. That’s 64 years since America’s top two service teams were ranked.

But this year, that means something even more. With the 12-team playoff, there is a legitimate chance that one of the Army or Navy will be the highest-ranked GO5 team by the end of the season and make the playoff. Now, these two teams are set for their normal matchup at the end of the season on December 14th. But what makes this season even more fun is that these two teams are in the same conference and are sitting at the top of that conference. So not only will we get our normally scheduled Army-Navy game, but we could also see them competing for the American Conference Championship.

Whatever happens to these two teams, this season has been historic, and it has been absolutely electric to watch Army and Navy dominate their opponents this year. I, along with the rest of America, are hoping we can see these two teams play for a spot in the playoffs to wrap up a legendary run for both, but either way it is safe to say that America is back.
