The Ryan Day Conversation

Earlier this year, I wrote a blog pondering whether it was time for Ohio State to fire Ryan Day. I said that he had had a concerning record vs top 25 teams and an even more concerning record against the team up north. After Saturday’s shocking loss as 3 TD favorites over the Wolverines, I think it’s officially time to move on.

Look, I don’t want to rag on the guy, but for the past six or so years, it feels like Ohio State has been winning in spite of Ryan Day. The team continuously makes silly errors when the game matters most, and has way too much talent to be losing this much.

This season was Big Ten champions at the minimum or bust for OSU, as they reportedly have a roster that is worth around $20 million. They chased QB Kyle McCord out of town and replaced him with an inferior player. After Saturday’s loss to Michigan, I think the boosters and AD for Ohio State are running out of reasons to let Day stick around.

Barring an improbable playoff run and a national championship appearance, I think we will see the firing of Ryan Day at the end of this season.
