Predicting the Top 10 Breakout CFB Stars (offense)

Number 10: Justin Joly, TE, NC State

Jolly is a bonafide stud at the TE position. In his Sophomore season at UCONN he racked up 56 catches for 578 yards and put in 2 TDs. Now at NC State Joly looks to continue that success and become one of the best young TEs in the Nation

Number 9: Jayden Thomas, WR, Notre Dame

Jayden Thomas only had 21 catches in his Junior Campaign, but is looking to be at the top of the Notre Dame depth chart this season. With new QB Riley Leonard, Thomas looks to be his go-to target in 2024.

Number 8: Jonah Coleman, RB, Washington

Washington got a DAWG in the portal this offseason in RB Jonah Coleman. Coleman ran for 871 yards on only 128 attempts. That’s 6.8 yards per carry. With the loss of Dillon Johnson to the NFL, Coleman looks to be the #1 back in Washington’s offense. Look for him to have a huge year in the Big 10.

Number 7: Abu Sama, RB, Iowa State

Similarly to Jonah Coleman, Sama made the most of his attempts on limited touches. As a freshman, he averaged over 7 yards a carry running for 614 yards and 6 TDs. As a sophomore, he will now get a much bigger workload. Expect big things from Sama in 2024.

Number 6: YaZeed Haynes, WR, Syracuse

Zeed Haynes transferred up to Syracuse after not playing at Georgia as a freshman. Zeed has 4.4 speed and is projected to be the X receiver in Syracuse’s offense this year. With new QB Kyle McCord at the helm, I expect Haynes to be a household name by the end of the season.

Number 5: Jackson Arnold, QB, Oklahoma

Jackson Arnold should have a much better season as a sophomore than he did in his limited playing time as a freshman. He threw for 563 in his freshman campaign, along with 4 TDs to 3ints. While he didn’t produce big-time numbers, I expect him to make a leap as the starter this year in Norman.

Number 4: Miller Moss, QB, USC

If there is one thing we know about Lincoln Riley’s coaching ability, it’s the fact that he consistently produces great QBs. Miller Moss balled out in his bowl game appearance last season, throwing for 6 TDs. As the starter in the USC offense this season I expect huge numbers from the Junior.

Number 3: Nico Iamaleava, QB, Tennessee

Nico Iamaleava came to Tennessee last year as a 5-star true freshman QB. In limited snaps, he threw for 314 yards and 2 TDs. Under Josh Heupel, Tennessee QBs have seen major success. Both Joe Milton and Hendon Hooker balled out in their respective seasons. Iamaleava might be the most talented QB Heupel has ever had and I expect him to produce in a big way this year.

Number 2: Byrum Brown, QB, USF

You could argue that Byrum Brown already broke out as a freshman last year at USF, however, I don’t think nearly enough people know his name. Brown might be the most electric player in CFB. As a freshman, he threw for 3,392 yards along with 26 TDs. But his passing isn’t even the best part of his game. Brown ran for 809 yards and put up 11 more TDs on the ground. I expect Brown to continue his success in 2024, and maybe even win some awards.

Number 1: Jordan James, RB, Oregon

Jordan James has a chance to be the best back in CFB this year. The Oregon Junior put up 759 yards and 11 TDs on just 107 attempts. That’s 7.1 yards per carry. The former 4 Star is going to the feature back in an Oregon offense that should be explosive this year. Expect James to be a leader in the Doak Walker race, and potentially even a Heisman trophy finalist.
